Portuguese Cattle Dog of the Azores

The Portuguese Cattle Dog of the Azores (in Portuguese "Cão de Fila") are good herding dogs. They are a rare purebreed dogs thanks to the relative isolation of the Azores island, which prevented crossbreeding with foreign dogs. They also make good guard dogs.

They are strong and intelligent dogs that learn quickly and meet with brio the expectations of their masters.

The coat of the Fila de S. Miguel Dog is short, thick and rough, and the hair colour reddish-yellow, streaked, and grey, also streaked, with dark and light shades.
